Operating Instructions

Begin by removing the black protective cap. Turn on the pH pen with the on/off switch located on the top. Condition and calibrate the pH pen according to the instructions below. Huge errors can occur if the pH bulb is dry.

Conditioning: Soak the sensing tip in either buffer 4, buffer 7, KCL solution, or tap water for at least 30 minutes. Make sure that the sensing tip is immersed up to at least one inch from the tip.

Calibration: Be sure to calibrate the pen in a pH buffer solution, close in pH to the value of the sample to be measured. Calibration is performed by turning the calibration trimmer on the reverse side of the pH pen. The pH pen is for single point calibration only. For accurate measurements, periodical recalibration is recommended.

Preparation of pH Buffer 7.00: First, remove the tablet from the packaging. Empty the powder from the tablet into a clean container. Add 100ml of distilled water. Stir until the powder is completely dissolved.

SAFETY WARNING WHEN USED WITH COOLANT SAMPLE:
REMOVAL OF RADIATOR CAP IS DANGEROUS

Radiators are under pressure. Hot coolant under pressure can cause severe burns. Do not remove the radiator cap on a hot engine. Wait until the temperature is below 50° Celsius (120° Fahrenheit) before removing the cap. Failure to wait may result in personal injury from hot coolant spray or steam. Remove cap slowly to relieve all pressure.

Dispose of your used antifreeze coolant in accordance with local regulations.
